25.01.2019 was the opening of Voćni Trg in Poljica, Vrsi Municipality. The project was funded by INA d.d. within the “Zeleni Pojas” tender and was highly ranked, second in the list of 169 applied projects. INA’s tender Zeleni Pojas is a public tender for co-financing of ecological projects. The project is worth about 30,000 kn. Financing by INA d.d. amounted to HRK 22.800 kn, while the rest was financed by Vrsi Municipality.
Namely, as there is no central square in Poljica or a gathering place for the population, we thought that this could be achieved by building a spot called Voćni trg, which will serve as a place for gathering the population, a gathering place for children, a common concern for the fig orchard and spot for cyclists where they will be able to fill up mobile phones, laptops, etc. Figs will be shared equally by all residents and their guests on a world-renowned “food sharing and shared economy” concept.
We tried to revive a neglected space, planting fig trees planted along the edge of the space, and in the central part there is a stone table and benches, an informative board with garbage bins, an information panel on the Zeleni Pojas, INA d.d. and a solar rack for bicycles, as well as a swing for children. We hope that this small square will expand its function, become a place for presenting local products, a vacation spot and a place for children to play.

“A few months ago there was a desolate meadow in this place that did not serve any of us. Thinking about how to enhance this space we talked with the acting manager of LAG Bura, Ana Škara, and came up with the idea that this space will revive as a small square that instead of tree trees and flowers will have a common orchard, bench, playground, solar panel, for bicycles etc. I believe that this is not the only project that we will realize for the benefit of all the inhabitants of Poljica. Namely, our intention is to intensify all our activities in realization of funds from EU funds, but also for our own, in order to improve the quality of life of all inhabitants of the Vrsi Municipality “, said Luka Perinić, Mayor of Vrsi Municipality.
