Rural Flavours Fair Starigrad

On Saturday, May 4, organized by the LAG “Bura” and the Tourist Association of Starigrad Municipality on the terrace of Hotel Alan was held the event “Rural Flavours” -Rural Taste. LAG “Bura” implemented the second stage of the transnational project “Rural Flavours” in Starigrad Paklenica.

On Friday, May 3, employees of the “Bura” LAG opened the project event with a presentation seminar at the Underground Center of Paklenica National Park. The presentation was concluded with the performance of the Aria harmony singing group from Starigrad.

After the presentation, the project partners had the opportunity to get acquainted with the examples of good practice in our area on field visits to  Šinjorina Smokva in Poljica and Mićanovi dvori in Kruševo.

On Saturday, 4th of May, organized by LAG “Bura” and the Tourist Board of Starigrad Municipality on the terrace of Hotel Alan was held the event “Rural Flavours”. LAG “Bura conducted the second phase of the Transnational Rural Flavours project with partners of Paphos District Development Agency “Aphrodite” and Development Agency of Lemesos LTD from Cyprus, Karhuseu from Finland, Comarca de LaCarq from Spain, Hiiumaa from Estonia and ADIRN from Portugal.

19 European exhibitors and 20 Estonian officials attended the event. Visitors tasted traditional dishes of Cyprus, Portugal and Estonia such as Commandaria and Casal de Freiriras, various tangerine products such as liqueurs, pecas, puddings and similar, Portuguese sausages. Visitors could also taste a variety of indigenous meals from the suburbs of the region, such as the fennel soup, Adriatic sardines and Bukovački prisnac.

Among other things, visitors could take part in the LAG Hiiumaa chocolate production workshop in Estonia and learn how to reuse recycled material.

From local manufacturers that presented their products were; OPG Eugen Novaković, OPG Dragica Milutin, OPG Dušević, OPG Baričević Luka, Pršutana Puntica, OPG Ivica Đurica.Home for the Adults in Zemunik, the native club Janko Mitrović, Paklenica National Park and the “Prospero” association from Gračac also presented their products. Visitors were also able to find out more about the work of  LAG “Bura” and FLAG “Tri mora”, and the tourist boards of Jasenice, Starigrad and Vrsi.

Folklore customs of the Zadar region were madpresented KUD Sv. Lovre Vrsi, KUD Ruža Croatia, KUD Vila Velebita,KUD Podgorac. The children’s acting group “Glumionica” within the KUD Podgorac from Starigrad performed a play titled “Tri kovijeka”. Afterwards, there was the performance of the Lanterna band.

Lovre Vrsi, harmony singing group Aria, KUD Vila Velebita, KUD Ruža Croatia, KUD Podgorac and all our local producers who made this event come true with its arrival.
