From 01.08 to 05.08 LAG Bura completed the third phase of the Rural Flavors project by participating in the Caffe Days fair in Kardla, Hiiumaa Island, Estonia. Rural Flavors is a transnational project between LAG Bura and partners from Finland, Cyprus, Estonia, Portugal and Spain. The project aims to promote and network local producers, share knowledge and expand market potential.
Our area was represented by Sandra Babac Šinjorina Smokva®, OPG Eugen Novakovic, Bruno Marasovic, U.O. Rajna.
As part of the project, LAG Bura also participated in a seminar on Local Legends and Myths in Marketing. LAG Bura presented a range of different products of its area and two tourist boards.
We had the opportunity to get acquainted with various indigenous products of our project partners, such as rosemary honey from Portugal, thistle jam from Finland, sweet delicacies from Cyprus and many handicrafts made of wood and wool from Estonia.
With this project we aim to maximize and encourage the quality systems and the recognition of products in the LAG area. It also aims to achieve a commodity exchange between members, local stakeholders and the international marketing of our local products.
The first project stage was held in Torres Novas, Portugal by participating in the dry fruit fair “Feira de Frutos Secos” on September 28, 2019, and the second stage was held in Starigrad in Paklenica Rural Flavors Fair on May 3, 2019.
The next project phase takes place in Limassol, Cyprus on September 19, 2019, and the final phase of the project in Pori, Finland in March 2020. As part of the project, a Rural calenda will be developed and a media platform will be developed to facilitate networking of producers and tourism in the area of project stakeholders.
