ELARD has launched a major international petition to strengthen LEADER/CLLD in the future EU programming period 2028-2034 under the title: “A stronger future for rural Europe” – securing LEADER/CLLD as a pillar of EU development (petition available in 20 languages)
Local action groups/groups need the support of as many citizens and development stakeholders as possible.
Across Europe, rural communities are facing growing challenges – from youth emigration to digital exclusion. However, solutions exist. For over 30 years, LEADER/CLLD has been empowering local people to shape their future through participatory, bottom-up development.
As the EU prepares its next long-term budget, we call on the European Commission to make LEADER/CLLD a pillar of EU rural policy – with a dedicated budget, simplified rules and recognition of local action groups (LAGs) as key partners in democracy, cohesion and resilience.
