LAG “Bura” attended the Prisnac Festival in Zelengrad on August 19, 2017, organized by the Provincial Club “Janko Mitrović”. We had the opportunity to be introduced to customs of Bukovica and also expand knowledge of Producer Organizations. Mag.iur. Matej Mikulić from the Agency for Rural Development (AGRRA) held a presentation on Producer Organizations, and Doc.dr.sc. Tomislav Šarić from the University of Zadar on the Perspectives of Breeding of Sheep and Goats in Zadar County.
Producer organizations aim to:
- Provide planned production with adjusted values to the quality and quantity of market demand
- concentrate the offer and placement of the market products of its own members
The producer organization is organized on the initiative of the manufacturers.
The benefits of sheep breeding and goat breeding are:
- Huge unused land surfaces
- Moderate climate suitable for breeding
- Dry coastal grasslands, cichlids, macaws and bushes and Mediterranean forests
- It lasts for almost an entire year
- Small investment
- Large amount of support, up to 150/kn per head, while for protected breeds up to 350/kn per head
Under the Forest Land Tenancy Decree, the price leases about 200 kn per hectare. The lease can be taken for a period of five years with the possibility of extension and allows the construction of prefabricated buildings.
We would also want highlight the concept of rotational livestock that is bred in the enclosed space, which reduces labor costs while at the same time improves the fertility of the soil, contributes to the removal of weeds and the reduction of the number of pests.
We are thankful to Provincial club “Janko Mitrović” for being guardians of traditions in Bukovica and for a successful organisation.
